ഓച്ചിറ പരബ്രഹ്മസ്വാമി അമ്പലം
Ochira, well known as Dakshina Kashi in the spiritual world, is a small town in Kollam district of Kerala.What's in the name? There are many
versions on how ochira got its name. Following is one of those which
makes more sense in the absense of any historical evidence. Param
Brahmam is the mythical God of Ochira temple and obviously the name of
the place is interpreted by the spiritual people based on the extreme
power.
The interpretation goes like this. 'Om' is the representation of Parambrahmam, the god of all gods. The word 'Chira' means piece of land. These two words combined together 'Om Chira' meant the 'land of Param brahmam'. Om chira became Ochira during the course of time.
Parabrahma temple in ochira which is spread about 36 acres of land attracts thousands of devotees every day to this small town. Ochira temple is so unique and different from the rest of the worship places across the state or country, in the sense that there is nothing exists here in the conventional form of a temple. Most part, the Temple premises is only open land with a few "Aal thara" (a banyan tree with a base foundation). Puja is performed on this foundations.part from the spiritual side of Ochira temple, the most interesting concept of this temple is its acceptance of any one who is seeking shelter and help. Ochira stands out to be one and only example in this century to be a place for those who seeks God through service and open heart.
The concept behind this temple is very simple, God exists every where, you seek them through service. Ochira teaches it's devotees to care for the helpless and diseased people.
Gopuram, East Nada, West Nada, Ondikkavu, Ayyappa Temple, Mahalakshmi Temple and Ganapathi temple are the points of worship here.
Unlike the other temple, the offering made in Ochira temple are very different. The most unique ones are the "Kayyum Kaalum", "Anna Danam", "Bhajanam Parkkal", Ettukandam Urilicha, Vedi Vazhipadu and "Uru Nercha". All these are based and related to the hindu and budhist myths and beliefs.

In both the Nadas, thes idols of hand and leg are provided as offering. These are offered for body healing of sick people.
Bhajanam Paarkkal
This is another unique feature of Ochira temple offered as part of the famous 12 day Vrichikotsavam. Devotees come and stay in the padanilam in specially made huts. Those devotees who sacrifice these 12 long days with the minimum facilities makes a big difference. When they comes to this, there is no relegion, cast or other dividing factors - but only one Parabrahmam - the real truth.
Ettukandam Urilicha
This is a spectacular seen for any one new to Ochira. It is a Procession held around two Aal tharas with decorated bulls and Nadaswaram and can be offered by any devotees.
By air and taxi: The two closest airports are in Thiruvanatapuram (100 km towards south) and in Cochin (130 km north). Pre-paid air port taxi services are available round the clock.
By Bus: Nearest major bus stations are Kayamkulam (5 km north of ochira) and Karunagappally (10 km south of ochira).
കേരളത്തിലെ മറ്റ്‌ ഹൈന്ദവക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും തികച്ചും വ്യത്യസ്‌തമാണ്‌ ഓച്ചിറയില് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഓച്ചിറ പരബ്രഹ്മക്ഷേത്രം. ദക്ഷിണകാശി എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകത ഇവിടെ ശ്രീകോവിലോ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയോ പൂജയോ ഇല്ല എന്നുള്ളതാണ്‌. കിഴക്കേ ഗോപുരകവാടം മുതല്‍ ഇരുപത്തിരണ്ടേക്കര്‍ സ്ഥലത്ത്‌ രണ്ട്‌ ആല്‍ത്തറയും ഏതാനും ചില കാവുകളും അടങ്ങുന്നതാണ്‌ ഇവിടുത്തെ ക്ഷേത്രസങ്കല്‍പം. ഇവിടത്തെ ഉത്സവം വൃശ്ചിക മാസത്തിലാണ് നടത്തുന്നത്. ചരിത്രപ്രസിദ്ധമായ കായംകുളം വേണാട്‌ യുദ്ധങ്ങളുടെ സ്മരണ നിലനിര്‍ത്താനായി വര്‍ഷം തോറുമുള്ള ഓച്ചിറക്കളി ഓച്ചിറ പടനിലം വേദിയില്‍ അരങ്ങേറുന്നു .
ഒരുനാള്‍ അകവറ്റൂര് ചാത്തന്റെ മുന്പില് ഒരു പോത്തിന്റെ രൂപത്തില് പരബ്രഹ്മം പ്രത്യക്ഷപെട്ട ഐതീഹമാണ് ഓച്ചിറ പരബ്രഹ്മം.ചാത്തന്റെ ദൃഷ്ട്ടിയില്മാത്രം കാണാന് കഴിയുന്ന പരബ്രഹ്മം അകവൂര് മനയിലെ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ കണ്ണില് മാത്രം അബധവശാല് അകപെട്ടു. ഇതില് പരിഭ്രമിച്ചു പോത്തിന്റെ രൂപത്തിലുള്ള പരബ്രഹ്മം ഓടിച്ചെന്നു ഒരു ചിറയിലെയ്ക്ക് ചാടി . ആ ചിറയാണ് പിന്നീട് "ഓച്ചിറ" ആയി മാറിയത്. പരബ്രഹ്മ നാദമായ "ഓംകാരത്തില്" നിന്നാണ് ഓച്ചിറ എന്ന പേര് വന്നത്. ക്ഷേത്രമോ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയോ രൂപമോ ഇല്ല. ചൈതന്യമായി വിളങ്ങുന്ന പരബ്രഹ്മ ചൈതന്യത്തിന്റെ മൂലസ്ഥാനമായ ഓച്ചിറയില് വന്നെത്തിയാല് ആദ്യം കാണുന്നത് അലങ്കരിച്ചു പ്രദക്ഷിണത്തിനു കൊണ്ട് വരുന്ന "കാള"കളെയാണ്. ശ്രീകോവിലില്ലാത്ത പ്രതിഷ്ടയില്ലാത്ത മൂലസ്ഥാനത്തിനു ചുറ്റും ത്രിശൂലങ്ങള് പ്രതിഷ്ടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഭസ്മം വിഭൂതിയായി നല്കുന് ഇവിടെ "ഭസ്മം" ശിവ വിഭൂതിയായും "കാള" യെ ശിവ
വാഹനമായും" ത്രിശൂലം" ഭഗവാന്റെ ആയുധമായും കാണുന്നു. ഇതില് നിന്നും മനസ്സിലാക്കേണ്ടത് പരബ്രഹ്മസ്വരൂപം എന്നത് സാക്ഷാല് പരാശക്തി സമേതനായ പരമേശ്വരമൂര്ത്തിയാണെന്നു സാരം.
